Program Registration

Registration Calendar

Register for programs by clicking above. In-person or phone sign-up also available by calling 845-268-7700 during library hours.

Registration for our Fall Programs, Sept. 15 through Dec. 31, started on Sept. 1.

Registration for Winter 2017 programs occurring January 1 through March 31 will open on January 1 for Nyack School District patrons. Beginning January 15, registration for Winter programs will start for out of district patrons.


Please note, registration requires an active email account. The program will send a confirmation and reminder to your email. Please check your SPAM folder or contact the library if you do not see a confirmation or reminder email.

ONGOING PROGRAMS

1000 Books Before Kindergarten: This program promotes reading to newborns, infants, toddlers, and children up to Kindergarten. The goal is to have read 1000 books before your child starts Kindergarten. Stop by the Children’s Room any time to sign up, get more information, and your first reading record.
FALL 2016 Programs

Registration for our Fall Programs, Sept. 15 through Dec. 31, started on Sept. 1.
FALL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Give a Kid a Book: Throughout October and November, the Children’s Room will collect new, unused books for the Library Association of Rockland County’s Youth Services. Books will be given as gifts to children through local charities during the holidays.

A great big “Thank You” and “Congratulations” to our patron Isabella Feeney for creating ‘Turn the Pages’ interactive book display as her Gold Award Girl Scout project! Children and Middle Schoolers are invited to borrow and suggest great books using this permanent display in the Children’s Room. Young children will get a prize when they participate, and Middle and High School kids can earn community service. Stop by to learn more!

School Closing Crafts

Select dates from 10am-2pm
Ages 3 and up with adult(s).
Drop in during the following school closing days to create a cool craft – a different craft for each day.

Make a Gingerbread House

Saturday, Dec. 10 at 12 noon.
Ages 3 and up with adult.
Come and decorate a colorful, edible gingerbread work of art to take home!

Noon Year’s Eve Party

Sat., Dec. 31 at 11:30 AM.
Ages 2 and up.
A chance for kids to party till the wee hours of the afternoon before New Year’s Day! Confetti, party games, balloons, and our own ball drop at 12 noon. Come celebrate 2017 with tons of fun (but less chaos than Times Square!)

Special Storytimes

Wiggly Worms Family Storytime

Select Saturdays at 10:30am
Ages 3 and up with adult(s).
Not your traditional storytime! This program lets your little ones discover stories in their own unique style. We’ll explore books and stories through a variety of sensory avenues, including listening to music, playing with story toys, and moving around. Great for wigglers, gigglers, and kids who can groove to their own beat. Please feel free to call with any questions.

Playtimes!

Open Playtime
September 12-December 12
Mondays from 10am-1pm
Ages 5 and under. It’s play time in the Storytime Room, no matter what the weather brings! A great chance to meet other local families while you enjoy books, games, toys and puzzles with your little one(s).
Drop in – no registration.

Pint-size Playtime
September 16 – December 16 (no program Nov. 25)
Fridays from 11:30am – 1:30pm
Age 35 months and under.
Drop in anytime for playtime geared especially for tiny tots under age 3. The storytime room will have early development toys, puzzles, books, and activities for babies and toddlers to discover and learn. Meet other caregivers in the community while your little one explores! No registration.
Circle Time! with Sukey Molloy

Select Wednesdays:
10:30am: ages 3-5 years.
11:30am: ages 9-35 months.
Join Sukey (seen on TV!) for her award-winning series of musical play activities, colorful felt board stories, and great sing-along fun to encourage movement, play and song in the developing years.

Picture Book Pals: Book Clubs for Grades K-2
Select Mondays at 5pm
Books will be available at the Children’s Room Desk one week prior to the program.

Sept. 26: Miss Brooks Loves Books and I Don’t, by Barbara Bottner. We’ll read the book together, then do a craft based on your favorite book character.

Oct. 17: Ladybug Girl and the Dress-up Dilemma, by David Sonan. We’ll read the book together, then decorate a pumpkin to take home.

Nov. 14: The Ugly Pumpkin, by Dave Horowitz. We’ll read the book together, then create a pine cone turkey to take home.

Bookaneers: Book Clubs for Grades 3-5
Books will be available at the Children’s Room Desk one month prior to the program.

Tues., Oct. 18 at 4:15pm: The Halloween Hoax, by Carolyn Keene. We’ll discuss this Nancy Drew story, then make a fun Halloween craft to take home.

Mon., Nov. 7 at 5pm: New Girl in Town (Liberty Porter, First Daughter series), by Julia DeVillers. We’ll discuss the story, then create a patriotic themed craft.

Mon., Dec. 12 at 5pm: Who was Walt Disney? by Whitney Stewart. We’ll discuss his fascinating life, then make a delicious holiday treat to bring home.
