Fall is coming: Registration for our Fall Programs, Sept. 15 through Dec. 31, will start on Sept. 1. Out of District patrons may register starting Sept. 15.

It’s hard to believe it is August already, which means the end of our Summer Reading Club is fast approaching. There are only two weeks left that will count towards earning Book Bucks.
August 27 is the last day to EARN Book Bucks.
September 3 is the last day to SPEND Book Bucks.
Prizes are on a first come first served basis.

Nyack school children who show us their Reading Log at least once during the summer will earn a Certificate of Participation from the Nyack School District. These will be awarded at morning program during the start of the school year!
Library BINGO Challenge

June 18-August 27
Ages 2 and up.

Pick up a Library BINGO card at the Children’s Desk and complete a BINGO row of activities to win a prize! Ask at the Children’s Desk for more details.
ONGOING PROGRAMS

1000 Books Before Kindergarten: This program promotes reading to newborns, infants, toddlers, and children up to Kindergarten. The goal is to have read 1000 books before your child starts Kindergarten. Stop by the Children’s Room any time to sign up, get more information, and your first reading record.

FALL ANNOUNCEMENTS

September is Library Card Month! If your child signs up for a library card in September, visit the Children’s Room Desk for a special prize.

Give a Kid a Book: Throughout October and November, the Children’s Room will collect new, unused books for the Library Association of Rockland County’s Youth Services. Books will be given as gifts to children through local charities during the holidays.

A great big “Thank You” and “Congratulations” to our patron Isabella Feeney for creating ‘Turn the Pages’ interactive book display as her Gold Award Girl Scout project! Children and Middle Schoolers are invited to borrow and suggest great books using this permanent display in the Children’s Room. Young children will get a prize when they participate, and Middle and High School kids can earn community service. Stop by to learn more!

Our carnival turned into a Halloween PARTY! Come in costume! Play party games and join in as your favorite characters act out their story with your help, and then meet and take photographs one on one with them.

Celebrate Election Day!

Drop by anytime on Tuesday, November 8 to vote for your favorite book character! A chance for children of all ages to be part of the democratic process and get prizes.

Come and decorate a colorful, edible gingerbread work of art to take home!

Not your traditional storytime! This program lets your little ones discover stories in their own unique style. Age 35 months and under.
Drop in anytime for playtime geared especially for tiny tots under age 3. The storytime room will have early development toys, puzzles, books, and activities for babies and toddlers to discover and learn. Meet other caregivers in the community while your little one explores! No registration.

Oct. 17: Ladybug Girl and the Dress-up Dilemma, by David Sonan. We’ll read the book together, then decorate a pumpkin to take home.

Nov. 14: The Ugly Pumpkin, by Dave Horowitz. We’ll read the book together, then create a pine cone turkey to take home.

Tues., Oct. 18 at 4:15pm: The Halloween Hoax, by Carolyn Keene. We’ll discuss this Nancy Drew story, then make a fun Halloween craft to take home.

Mon., Nov. 7 at 5pm: New Girl in Town (Liberty Porter, First Daughter series), by Julia DeVillers. We’ll discuss the story, then create a patriotic themed craft.

Mon., Dec. 12 at 5pm: Who was Walt Disney? by Whitney Stewart. We’ll discuss his fascinating life, then make a delicious holiday treat to bring home.
